Mourning the Loss of Dr Boris Žitnik, long-standing Director of the EIMV

It is with a profoundly heavy heart and sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our long-standing and respected Director, Dr Boris Žitnik.

As a young professional, he started his career at the Milan Vidmar Electric Power Research Institute in the then High Voltage Department. His professional and scientific contributions in several fields within power engineering have contributed greatly to the advancement of modern technologies in the power engineering. He took over the management of Milan Vidmar Electric Power Research Institute in 2010 and has strongly influenced its development and guided it until today.

He was the driving force of our team. He leaves behind a deep void, but also a deep gratitude for having had the opportunity to work with him and to be part of the vision and development of our Institute under his leadership. Optimistic, forward-looking, prudent, always with his fellow man in mind and for the good of us all. This is how we will remember him. His human warmth and serenity will remain in our hearts forever.

He will be remembered with deep respect as a leader and a colleague who knew how to listen, inspire and connect. For him, every challenge was solvable, every obstacle surmountable. He always had a warm word for each and every one of us.

In these difficult times, we express our sincere condolences to his family, friends and all who knew and respected him.

We will pay tribute to him with a memorial service.

The Condolence Book will be open at the company's head office from 15 to 18 April 2025 between 9 am and 3 pm.
