European Joint Programme on Radioactive Waste Management - EURAD

03, Sep, 2019

The new EURAD European research programme, dedicated to radioactive waste management was commenced in June 2019 within the Horizon 2020 programme. The removal of highly radioactive waste and used fuels still remains an open issue. The joint research programme has been planned quite ambitiously, since it comprises 13 projects involving more than 100 partners from 23 countries. The projects in the first phase will be implemented by 2024. Approximately EUR 21 million European funds have been benchmarked for this phase, and it is envisaged that the period will be extended for 2 to 3 years in the total amount of EUR 9 million.

EIMV has been included in 4 projects: Knowledge Management and Guidelines, UMAN, ROUTES and Programme Management.
