12th Workshop on power line communications
28. Sep, 2018Electric Power Research Institute Milan Vidmar (EIMV) and Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FE) Ljubljana organized 12TH WORKSHOP ON POWER LINE COMMUNICATIONS (WSPLC 2018). This annual workshop of IEEE Technical Committee on PLC took place in Ljubljana on September 24th and 25th, 2018 under the title “Power Line Communications Enabling the Smart Grid”.
WSPLC 2018 was co-chaired by prof. dr. Matej Zajc (FE) and prof. dr. Nermin Suljanović (EIMV). Prof. dr. Gregor Dolinar, dean of the Faculty, and dr. Boris Žitnik, director of EIMV, welcomed the participants during the opening ceremony. WSPLC 2018 was a balance of recent academic research results in the domain of communications over power lines and practical deployments in power utilities, emphasizing advantages of PLC technologies as well as major obstacles for its wider acceptance. Participants came from universities (such as British Columbia, Alpe Adria University, University of Aplied Science Ruhr West) and industry (distribution system operators, vendors and integrators). More information about program as well as contributions are available at WSPLC 2018.
Prof. dr. Suljanović presented research results in the scope of collaboration with Elektroprivreda B&H and Faculty of Electrical Engineering Ljubljana, with a presentation entitled “Field analysis of PRIME PLC system performance in the rural distribution grid”. Slovenian distribution network operators Elektro Ljubljana and Elektro Gorenjska presented their experience with PLC in smart metering and smart grids.
